I never could explain this need for pain
Been walking on razorblades but I can't complain
So I took the ruined road to the edge of town
Then I heard the seventh bell and the sun went down

There was a preacher-man who was there as I cried
We looked 'cross that stony field at the souls who died
That church was a build of green from the trees that leaned
